Our Fraternity House is in Heaven

One of the most misunderstood concepts is a fraternity without a physical house. And while a fraternity building does have its advantages, it by no means is a requirement for brotherhood. To redress the lack of a facility, the chapter currently meets at the Lutheran Student Center on campus. The center has been a valuable resource and continues to support the development of Delta Chapter today.

So how does it work then?

Simple. We have our weekly meetings, socials, and activities just like any other fraternity would. We tailgate before the games, have philanthropies, participate in Homecoming Week, and play intramurals along with all other fraternities on campus. In contrast to what would be expected, members of Delta Chapter actually spend just as much or even more time together than other fraternities on campus: the key is not whether members live together, but rather whether they get along.

The set up of our chapter allows for students to see both sides of college picture: dorm life with Greek brotherhood. While at college, you should be trying to meet many new people, whether they belong to an organization you're in or not. The housing situation of Delta Chapter allows members to spread their connections further than just the guys they meet in the fraternity, and this is encouraged!

While there has been growing talk of looking into purchasing a chapter house and this option has been kept open in the past, the next step will probably be more of an unoffical house or apartment off campus. The future of Delta Chapter is in the hands of current and incoming members, so make your voice known! With some of the best dormitories in the nation, however, we actually encourage incoming freshman to spend a year on campus; the convenience of dorm life is a great asset for any students new to the university.

So what kind of things does Beta Sigma Psi do?

While each year activities change year to year, there are some common events each year. These activities are generally based around the Three S's, spiritual, social, and scholastic. Every week we plan a social event, ranging from going to the Rec Center and throwing the football around to meeting up with a sorority to hang out for the night. We also generally road trip at least once a semester, giving members a much needed break from studies. Once or twice a month, the chapter participates in a group worship, rotating around Lutheran congretions in the Lincoln and Omaha area. And our long history at the University of Nebraska provides us with another important resource: academic mentors. With several former Beta Sigs employed as university professors, we are able to have personal connections that provide strong advice with regards to schoolwork.

One of the greatest things about Beta Sigma Psi is how well-rounded each member is; the Three S's provide a good template for each member during his years at college and beyond. For more information, check out the individual pages.
